Traditional Territory: Kaurna Country

The Tonsley Retail Pods form a retail zone located beneath the refurbished frame of the former Mitsubishi car plant Main Assembly Building.

Developed as a modular concept to test temporary retail facility models for Renewal SA, two systems are utilised. The first comprising a steel frame and the second an engineered timber frame. The factory-built pods were delivered to site and connected. These ‘cold shells’ were then fitted out by the tenants.

The pods are integrated in the precinct with ramps, decks, seating areas and screen walling.
