Pulteney Grammar School is a co-education school of 1000 students located in Adelaide, South Australia.

The Mackinnon Building encompasses an Early Learning Centre and classrooms for reception to year 2.

The scale of the building respects the specific user group, from joinery and location of door handles to a carefully designed grid of windows to the east façade, which puncture the classroom walls playfully framing views at a relative scale to the children. The ordered geometry is contrasted utilising a kidney shaped lawn area, seating depressions and a grass mound with a palm tree. Created as the focal point within this space, it evokes images of an island and providing a springboard from which children can fantasise.
